Como Children Rhythm of the Day
7.30am Centre opens
Children begin to arrive with their family members. Indoor and outdoor play spaces are available. The children are encouraged to assist with the morning preparations, including setting the play spaces, preparing the cloths for morning tea, writing the menu and making the play-dough.
8am Studio opens
The studio is open for early morning painting and drawing.
9.15am Morning Meeting - A formal welcome to the day
Children and Educators divide into two groups. This is a time to develop language and social skills through poetry, songs, movement and rhythmical drama experiences. The children will also share news, express ideas and discover more about the daily program.
9.45am – 11am Morning Tea and experience Time
Progressive morning tea: A progressive style of morning tea will begin, providing the children the time and space to share food in a small group with the company of two Educators. Morning tea is offered from 9.45am – 11am, allowing the children plenty of time to eat in between playing, reflecting, and engaging in the intentional experiences and project work.
Experience time: The indoor, outdoor, theatre and studio spaces are open for play, intentional experiences and project work. Experiences from a range of disciplines are on offer, including cooking, visual art, gardening, construction, dramatic play, physical movement and fine-motor craft. The project work reflects an inquiry-based approach whereby children work in collaboration with an Educator on an ongoing basis.
11am – 11.30am Time to pack away and reset, slowly...
Children and Educators tidy away together. Tables are also set for lunch and the beds are prepared for rest time.
11.30am – 11.45am Storytime
An Educator presents a story, puppet play, rhythmical drama or percussion session for the whole centre to enjoy.
11.45am – 12pm Lunch
The whole centre sits together in the meals area to enjoy a shared, family-style lunch. The menu is available on the front veranda and updated daily.
