7.30am – Our opening time
Children begin to arrive and settle in for the day. The house is available for play.
8.00 – Children continue to arrive
A time to make playdough together outside and continue setting up for the day. Water, sand, swings and easels…
Inside there are puzzles, dolls, writing areas, books and construction materials.
The Art studio opens. Children help prepare the paints and early morning painting begins…a welcoming space to say goodbye to mum or dad.
9.30 – Morning meeting time
The bells sound and meeting groups gather in the House, Studio and Theatre. Songs, poems, conversation and games….and a time to decide what to do today.
After meeting time – Morning Tea
Time to wash our hands, have a snack, a drink and chat with friends and educators.
10am – The morning program
Experiences from a range of disciplines that include literacy, cooking, gardening, art, drawing, dance, music, modelling, construction, fine and gross motor activities, and dramatic play. Some of the experiences will be part of ongoing project work.
11.15 – Time to tidy away
11.30 – Storytime
An Educator presents a story, puppet play, rhythmical drama or percussion session for the whole centre in the theatre room.
11.45am – Lunch and transition to rest in the theatre, house or studio
We all eat together and share what we’ve cooked during the morning. Afterwards 2’s and 3’s rest in the theatre, while 4’s and 5’s begin quiet time (kindergarten program).
12.30 – The centre is quiet
1.15pm – Afternoon program
Time to play again inside and outside weather permitting. Children who are still sleeping wake up when ready and join their friends.
2pm – Art Studio is opened
The art studio is open for an afternoon session
2.45pm – Afternoon Tea
3.00pm – 3.30pm Music and Movement
Percussion, movement or dance session
4.15pm – Storytime
A story or two in the theatre
Afterwards – Late Snack
A small snack before home time.
5.00pm – Centre closes
